Ethakka Kalan

Hi Friends, Welcome to Nisha Rose Kitchen, here we are explaining how to prepare Ethakka Kalan at home for Onam special. This item is very tasty Onam curry prepare by Malayalee’s in Kerala. By reading this article, you get to know more about this special curry and will be able to prepare this at your home. We can have this curry with red rice and white rice as well.
Ingredients:
Raw Banana: 1 Nos.
Cheena (Elephant Foot Yam) : 150g
Curd: 1/2 Cup
Coconut: 1 Nos.
Geera: 1/2 spoon
Chilli Powder: 1 spoon
Green Chilli – 3 Nos.
Mustard: ½ Table Spoon
Turmeric Powder: ½ Table Spoon
Fenugreek: ½ Table Spoon
Full Red Chilli - 5 Nos.
Curry Leaves and Salt as required
Coconut Oil: 4 Table Spoon
How to Prepare:
1st Mix preparation
Raw Banana and Cheena wash and cut into small pieces.
Now Raw Banana and Cheena mix with Red Chilli and Turmeric power along with water and cook until it gets cooked. Now add curd into it and mix very well and allow to boil.
In the mean time coconut, Geera and green chilli put it in mixi Jar and grind it nicely.
Now add this mix into boiling mix.
Add required salt in this stage and allow to boil well. Once completely boiled Switch off flame.
2nd Mix Preparation
Now Take a pan with 4 table spoon of coconut oil and keep it in stove. Once it becomes hot, add required mustard, red chilli & curry leaves and mix well.
Take 1st Fix and add to 2nd mix and mix very well.
Now Ethakka Kalan is ready.
You can serve this Ethakka Kalan now.
