Special Onam Sambar

Especially in festival like Onam Without Sambar our Onam sadhya is incomplete. Sambar is one of the most popular dish in south India. It is a very good combination for idly, Dosha, rice, chapathi and many more. So let's see how to prepare tasty Kerala style Sambar. This is the Traditional way of making Sambar. This is the way my mother used to make Sambar at home, and it's so tasty and authentic taste. And the specialty of this Sambar is, we cook this Sambar in cooker so that it's simple to make and can be prepared in less time. So, let's see how to prepare this Kerala style Sambar . And let's see the ingredients needed.
Ingredients :
Toor dal - 1 cup
Red chilli powder - 1 spoon
Coriander powder - 2½ spoon
Turmeric powder - ½ spoon
Sambar powder - 1 spoon
Fennel seeds powder - ¼ spoon
Tamarind - 1 lemon size
Asafetida - ½ spoon
Mustard - 1 spoon
Red chilli - 4
Curry leaves
Coconut oil - 4 spoon
Vegetables :
Carrot
Cucumber
Ladies finger
Pumpkin
Potato
Tomato
Shallots
Beans
Drum stick
How to prepare :
Friends, let's start making Sambar, first let's cut all vegetables and let's wash it properly and keep a side, and also let's soak the lemon side tamarind in hot water. Now let's take the cooker and put the washed and cleaned toor dal and add two cups of water and wait for two visiles.
After the visiles completely removed, let's open the cooker and give a good mix. Now let's add all the vegetables which is cut in to small pieces. Only ladies finger we will add by frying in coconut oil for two minutes in a pan for amazing taste. Now let's take a small pan and put 2 spoon coconut oil and put all the masala powders and fry well. Now let's add these fried masala to the cooker and then add tamarind juice and mix well and now we will add needed salt and again we will wait for 2 visils.
After the visile completely removed open the cooker and mix well and keep it for boiling and check the salt if needed we can add now then we will add asafetida and mix well and boil for 5 minutes. And off the flame. Then in to an other pan add 3 spoon of coconut oil, after the oil become hot let's add mustard seeds and red chilli and curry leaves and a ¼ spoon of Sambar powder again and mix well, off the flame and add this mix to the sambar mix well and close the lid for 10 minutes and after ten minutes our tasty Kerala style Sambar is ready to serve.
